Another Reserve Champion Senior Fullblood
Doe rosetta for Venus.
|
Linda Fleming was the judge at the
first every USBGA Cedar Country Fall Classic sponsored
by L&E Farms, Smyrna, TN; B&W Boers, Lancaster,
TN; Como Grain Company, Coma, TN; www.goatbarn.com;
and the Tennessee Farmers Co-Op. We really we enjoyed
the show. The hard work of Cecil & Cathy Thigpen
and Donna & Derial Bivens paid off, and the event
ran smoothly. .
We took seven goats to the show, and returned with
4 first place ribbons, 2 second place ribbons, and
Venus earned another rosetta. We had a marvelous time.

We started the show off
with KWM Kattie's Glory
SA. This embryo baby was just under 3 months
old - 45 lbs. of muscle. She held her head up, and
pranced into the ring as though she had been doing
this all her life. The judge was impressed at how
well she walked - and how still she stood. Glory
received her very first blue ribbon!

Next in the showring
was KWM's Star Topaz.
Topaz still hasn't fully recovered from the hypocalcaemia
she suffered in April after Luna and Mercury were
born, but she looked good enough to take her first
blue ribbon. |
KWM's
Queue, who had a first place finish in Lewisburg
in October, decided to quit fighting her handler and
walked nicely into the ring. Another blue ribbon!!

NK
M141 Kattie and our very own BNZ
Venus were up next. Kattie, who had never been
to a show before, looked good in their class of 12
- but was one of the first dismissed from the ring.
Venus, on the other hand, walked proudly - head held
hight - and stood like she was bred to be the center
of attention. She finished 2nd in her class of 3 year
olds and older (Kattie and Venus were definitely in
the "older" catagory). After receiving her
red ribbon, Venus stayed in the ring for the Senior
Doe Grand Championship - and again finished second....Reserve
Grand Champion Senior Fullblood/ Purebred Doe.

Our finaly
entries were KWM Kattie's
Fortune and KWM Kattie's
Hero. On any given day either of these under 3-month
old bucklings could be a winner. On this particular
day the younger Hero walked away with the blue ribbon
while Fortune finished second and was awarded his
very first red ribbon.
